Hello Lovelies! Welcome to my weekly wrap up!
This week has been exhausting! I worked Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Friday this week. Wednesday I took my Miguel to the hospital for a routine procedure. That same day, my kids play-set arrived, we purchased it last week and had to pay to have it delivered. I have to admit, I assumed we would pay someone to put it together, too. But, they wanted $350 for set up, so we decided to just do it ourselves. Yea, right, like it’s no big deal.
This fucking play-set is insane to set up. We have been working on it a few hours a day since Wednesday, and we are still not done. I hope to be done by tomorrow, maybe? It is the sort of thing that requires a drill and a bunch of other things I prefer not to handle. My kids are extremely excited and I can’t wait for them to have an outdoor space to play on.
Thursday I decided to get back to my bookcases. I couldn’t really work on the play-set until my Miguel got home, so why not start a new project, right? My “book room” has a built in bookcase (it used to be a closet in the second bedroom, but now it is a room where the stairs live. I loving call it the book room because I put all my bookcases in there) The closet had wood panel and then built in shelves. Like, wood panel from I hated the fucking wood panel SO DAMN MUCH! I have been looking at it for 6 months and I have had enough!
The good news is that I actually finished all my bookcases. I did enlist a little help from my daughter Belle. Here are some pictures. Oh, and I apologize for not having before pictures. You see what happened was….I got a new phone. I had loads of pictures of my bookshelves on my old phone, but I lost all of them when I switched from android to iphone. I can’t find any pictures of them now.
Anyways, I started off thinking I wanted white/turquoise shelves.
I quickly realized I needed to rethink this due to my book room having LARGE amounts of dark wood trim. Also, I started off with spray paint. I couldn’t possibly have spray painted the built in shelves, (although, I did try to mentally make it work). So then I tried the dark brown with turquoise…
Listen, they didn’t have the high gloss brown to match the turquoise when I went back to the store. I settled for matte brown. So now I have one white/turquoise, and one matte brown/turquoise. I am not happy but it is “good enough” on these shelves.
The bookshelf built ins had wood panel on the wall. I hated the fucking wood panel SO DAMN MUCH! I have been looking at it for 6 months and I have had enough! Here’s what it looked like while it was in progress, (once again, sorry no “real” before pictures)…
There was a space on this wall where I squeezed in another free standing bookshelf. I decided to flip the color around on that one so it could sort of stand out. I took this while it was still wet so it looks patchy, but I think you get the idea…
Please excuse the mess in the background. The clothes on the floor are actually jackets as the “coat closet is under those stairs, (my kids don’t understand how to use hangers apparently). Here is the finished result…
The smaller bookshelf of the bottom does not have books on it. It is still tacky so I am gonna wait another day or so. I am very happy with the result. What do you think?
This Thursday the new Beyond the Books will be posted. This week we are discussing Where do you fall in the birth order of your family? First, middle, baby, only? Do you think that affected who you are today? I have to admit, I am feeling sort of bad that more people don’t participate in Beyond the Books. I am gonna keep on with it, though. I like no having to come up with a topic every week.
I posted a video this week:
Last week I posted:
I didn’t post as much as I had hoped last week. In my defense, the book I started reading Saturday was over 700 pages. So that kinda threw my schedule out of wack.
Next week I plan to post:
