July 2017 Wrap Up

Reading time 2 mins

Welcome to my Monthly Wrap Up!

Well July just flew by for me. I started off at a good clip with reading and reviewing. I took the last week of July off from blogging, kinda accidentally as I went on vacation to New Orleans. If you have ever been there, then you can probably understand how bewitching the city is. If you haven’t ever been there, you should definitely add it to your list of places to visit. I had so much fun and fell in love with that town. I have to admit I didn’t even pick up a book the whole time I was gone. So not only was this a break from blogging for me, it was also a break from reading.

My Miguel and I returned home yesterday and were greeted with the muggy, rainy weather that is summer 2017 in Connecticut. It has rained here so much that mostly my motorcycle just sits in the garage taunting me. Between work and rain I just haven’t been able to ride much.

I didn’t complete all my goals for July. I still haven’t done that bullet journal post, I didn’t review as much as I had hoped (probably due to taking a week off), and I didn’t get back to working out. I did a ton of walking though and that’s something. I also did pretty good with commenting, except for this past week. I do have a bunch of starred emails in my inbox from blogs I subscribe to, and a few comments to approve and return. So I’ll probably be visiting y’all very soon, if I haven’t already.

How is your summer going?

I reviewed 8 books in July (click the cover to see the review)

My favorite book of the month was Now I Rise. That whole series is amazing. Like I said in my review, if I gave 6 star ratings, this series would get it from me.

My least favorite book was The Girl of Fire and Thorns. I was just so disappointed with this book by Rae Carson. Her latest series was so much better.

I published 14 posts in July. I did three weekly Wrap Up posts. In July I also published 2 discussion posts, Why I Hate Series Enders and Weird Things Only Bloggers Do. I actually finished reviewing one whole book series this month, Seven Black Diamonds.

COYER Summer Reading is still happening. I have until September 12, 2017 to get those books read. I have 11 read and reviewed so far toward my 30 planned reads. No pressure there because this is a no-pressure challenge. I am still feeling a bit behind, though.

One Dark Throne! I loved 3DC and I cannot wait to get my mitts on 1DT! I’ve heard great things so far and hope you really enjoy it!

I’m glad you got a reading and blogging break – sometimes we need those even though it wasn’t intentional. Your trip sounds wonderful though!

Hope you have a great August!

I didn’t meet all my goals or finish the tasks I wanted to in July, either. I have a few still to do and some I’m going to hold off on. I hope you enjoyed New Orleans!

I’m glad you had a good time in New Orleans! I’ve been curious about it for years, but have never been myself. New Orleans always reminds me of “Interview with the Vampire” by Anne Rice. It’s set in New Orleans (for a lot of it) and very atmospheric. And good luck to your mom with her surgery this month!

I was thinking the same thing about New Orleans. I am so sad to say I never really made it past the French Quarter. I so wanted to see Lafayette Cemetery and see the old colonial homes, but I couldn’t walk that far. I do want to go back at some point and see those things. Thanks for the luck!

Looks like you had a good July, even though you didn’t manage to complete all of your goals. We haven’t made it to New Orleans yet, but it’s on my bucket list! Looking forward to your bullet journal post as I’m having fun with mine. Good luck with all of your August goals!

Glad you enjoyed your trip to New Orleans. That city is just amazing. I visited when it was boiling hot and I should have hated it but the place was amazing and I loved every minute there. I would love to visit again but trips to the US are pricey! A break from reading is always good and a trip away is as good excuse as any for not reading.

Hopefully, you can meet your goals for this month. They’re very doable just have to keep organised.
