Hello Lovelies! Welcome to my weekly wrap up!
What a fucking week! I can blame weeks like this for every single grey hair on my head (and the sequential gobs of money I will pay to make them disappear). I started off the week working. Sunday’s are usually chill at my job, but this Sunday was a little brutal. One of my patients went out of his way to try to make me feel utterly useless, good thing I know better. Still it was an unpleasant visit. Monday I had court with my son. He got 6 months probation, so basically we’ll just keep doing what we are doing. Nothing we didn’t expect.
Tuesday I worked, and it was a super l o n g day. I am usually done by 2:30, but Tuesday I worked until 5. Work is just kicking my ass lately. The more I learn, the more I find myself fixing mistakes from others. I want my ignorance back!
Wednesday My Miguel went for surgery to have his right knee replaced. The hospital he went to is about an hour away, and I made four trips there this past week. Thursday afternoon I took my bike to see him. The weather turned a bit chilly and it was only 52° when I headed home. That means 32° on the bike. Guess who wasn’t properly dressed for that ride? I had to pull over TWICE because I was shivering so much. I was really torn between hurrying up to get home and trying to get warm. It was a hard ride.
The day before Miguel went in for surgery, our toilet quit flushing. That’s great timing! We have 2 bathrooms, but the other one is upstairs. I have to admit I tried to fix it myself. I was so brave (and stupid!). It turns out that out that the “shut-off valve” in our bathroom is just for show and doesn’t really shut anything off. As a result, my whole bathroom got a hose down. I am so lucky we recently met a super nice couple who offered to come over and fix it for us. I don’t know what we would have done.
Miguel came home yesterday and he is doing much better then last year when he had his left knee replaced. I am super glad to have him home, but also super exhausted. Taking care of someone (and the little people, and myself, and the house, and the animals) is a lot of work. Today I am going to the mall with my new friend, I can’t wait for some girl time. Miguel is able to get up and sort of get around, plus we got the big kids here. So he should be okay for a few hours.
This Thursday the new Beyond the Books will be posted. This week we are discussing The signs that you are getting older (or The signs you are finally an adult, for you younger folks). Can’t wait to compare notes on this one!
