Emma Mars delivers the sexy, enticing sequel to her first novel Hotelles and follows the adventures of a young French woman as she continues her carnal education in a mysterious Parisian hotel. In a hotel room in Paris, a young woman named Elle experiences the most exquisite freedom and sensual pleasure she has ever known, thanks to Louie, the man who has conquered her completely. So many things in life have changed since they first met. Her engagement to Louie's deceptive brother, David, has been broken. Her mother has died. Yet Elle is wholly fulfilled with Louie, the master who heightens her senses and unleashes her deep, seductive power. In the alluring Hôtel des Charmes, Louie takes Elle beyond her wildest fantasies. Exploring the boudoirs devoted to other courtesans—Mademoiselle Josephine, Deschamps, Kitty Fisher, Cora Pearl, and Valtesse de La Bigne—Elle willingly opens herself further. In sublime self-abandonment she discovers absolute ecstasy, absolute sweetness, absolute desire. Then David unexpectedly returns, stirring up painful memories and threatening their bliss. Elle fears her education may soon be over. . . .She does not understand that it has only just begun.
Book two in the La trilogie Hotel series. Elle is like Nancy Drew meets erotica. Elle is really coming into her own in this book. Emma Mars knows how to write good erotica. I fell in
love lust over this romantic pairing.
**This review contains spoilers for Book 1, Hotelles.**
This story begins at the Hotel des Charmes with Elle and Louie in a room, this is exactly where we left them in the previous story, Hotelles. Louie is everything Elle needs and she is very happy. The only problem they have is David, Louie’s brother, who is intent on ruining everything for them. When Louie’s latest art exhibition lands him in jail, Elle is playing detective to find out who is behind the charges. In her digging Elle finds out about David’s mysterious past. Aurora pops up time and time again, making Elle feel like second best, and Louie is laying low away from Elle. Elle puts her journalism skills to work to solve the mystery of the family, but will those secrets tear Louie and her apart?
Elle is much different in this story. She and Louie are living a sexual fantasy in the Hotel des Charmes. The author is an expert at delving out the details of their sexual throes. She made me want Louie for myself. He is the perfect lover in this story. Dominant, compassionate, sexy, and has unlimited stamina. Elle is no longer the shy demure girl she once was. Louie has awakened in her the sex kitten that she should be. She even manages to surprise Louie with her sexual appetite. They were a perfect couple and I couldn’t ask for more from a couple in an erotic novel.
However, I have to say that Louie was absent throughout a large portion of this story. It was upsetting! Elle imagines him everywhere and that keeps her fires burning for him, but I missed him. David, and his drama, were frustrating in this story. He thinks he is always in control and can get away with anything. He didn’t count on Elle discovering his little secret. I suspect she will do what she needs to do to get the upper hand in the next novel. This book was mostly about Elle getting to the information she needs to have a chance to get the upper hand. David is a control freak and I would not want be on his bad side.
There were a few times in this story that I had to roll my eyes. Elle gets too lucky sometimes. Not only does she have Louie, but the right people and circumstances just fall into her lap. The charges against Louie do not make sense to me, but this all happens in France, so maybe the charges carry more weight over there…? Also, David seemed more evil then he needed to be in my opinion. Didn’t she just almost marry this guy? Why does she hate him so much when she cheated on him. She is not exactly monogamous with Louie either in this story. Elle has issues that may turn off some readers.
The writing style of Emma Mars is really good. Despite the fact that this book is originally penned in French, I could still follow the story. I liked Elle enough to want to read the sequel. It is out right now, but not in English just yet. I hope it is available soon.
